| The Large Heart is a beautiful brooch, copied from a French example of the
first half of the 15th C. It is an excellent example of the use of pewter to imitate more expensive
jewelery - in this case a ring brooch with a pin which is here shown in its entirety.
In the precious metal brooch, the pin would actually dip into and out of the wearer's clothes and hold the
brooch on.
