| The Crucifixion in Pendant Frame is copied from an example in the van
Beuningen collection. Its use of interchangeable parts
(other inserts which would fit in a frame of the identical size also survive) is
a clue to the enormous number of cheap religious souvenirs and devotional objects
which were made throughout the 14th and 15th centuries.
