A new buckle and chape, c. 1300. Copied from a mold from Magdeburg, with additions based on other contemporary items and a second mold (from Zerbst).
All our openwork pieces with backings are now offered in brass, copper, pewter, and “empty” with a pattern so you can put in colored paper, parchment, or fabric to suit yourself. Want to know more about how to spot historic pieces with backings and how they were made? Read the blog post.
