Dragon Brooch

$5.00

A funny thing about the corpus of medieval pewter brooches, and other items, is that many of the exciting monsters and imaginary animals we associate with the Middle Ages are missing – or appear only very rarely. This handsome brooch of a dragon with a surprising, leafy tail is an example. It is beautiful, but every other dragon item we have copied features something bad happening to the dragon. So, we need to enjoy what we can get!

Copied after a Netherlandish brooch dated 1350-1400.
