Louise on Pilgrimage Brooch

Our girl again, dressed as a pilgrim and ready to travel. Pilgrims are suspect in the Middle Ages; you have to respect their status as holy travelers, but there is always the suspicion that at least some of them are up to something – probably something they can’t get away with at home. The fact that the famous songs of the Libre Vermell (Montserrat) were written to give the pilgrims sleeping over something respectable to sing and dance to all night, tells you most of what you need to know.

Our brooch is copied from an example found in Amsterdam, and dated 1375-1425.
