M-shaped Charm Holder

There are many M-shaped brooches in the Middle Ages, perhaps referring to Mary, the Blessed Virgin, perhaps to Minne – courtly love. This attractive little brooch takes on the role of charm holder as well. The original was found in the Place du Marché, in Valenciennes, and is dated second half of the 14th into the 15th century.
