Purse Buckle / Earl of Warwick Chape

$3.00$13.00 single piece or set

The purse buckle is adapted from an example dated 1400-1450. It can be used as a buckle on a belt, but we mention its use for purses particularly, because the buckle is reflexed and it sits very flat and smoothly over its strap.

The  Earl of Warwick chape is based on a detail from the effigy of Richard Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick. He died 1439, but his effigy is dated c.1448 (Beauchamp Chapel in the Collegiate church of St Mary, Warwick). The chape is shown in a detail from Stothard’s Monumental Effigies.

Fits a 11/16 inch or 17mm strap.
