Black Bull of Clarence Brooch

$5.00

The black bull of Clarence was a badge of the Royal house of York and although the device was used Edward IV, it is most associated with his brother George Plantagenet, the Duke of Clarence. The original of this badge, found at the Bankside site in London, was probably distributed to his men. Because of the device’s long association with the royal house, we should count it a Yorkist even if George did change sides, however briefly, under the influence of his father-in-law, Warwick.
