Hexagram Stud with Stone

$1.00

This remarkably attractive belt stud (mount) is copied after an example found in London in an archeological context that dates it to the late-thirteenth or fourteenth century (Ceramic Phase 9: 1270-1350). We offer it in 11 colors.

Best known today as the Star of David (or Mogen David – Shield of David), and recognized as a symbol of Judaism, the six-pointed star was accepted in the Middle Ages by Jews, Christians, and Muslims as a representation of the Seal of Solomon, an amulet of mystical and religious power. It was also used casually as decoration, perhaps with a diffuse aura of protection. These belt mounts surely fell into the latter category.

Like many of our offerings where there are numerous choices of color, it may take an extra day for us to fill your order, while we cast. But do not hesitate – we are glad to oblige!

Fits straps 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 inch or 28 to 30mm wide, or wider with one point up and down. Can just be squeezed onto a strap 1 inch or 24 mm wide with two points up (if you are adept). Images show the stud on a 1 1/4 inch or 32 mm strap.
