Pomander

$2.00$25.00

Our stunning pomander is an adaptation into pewter of the silver gilt pomander, c. 1500, in the V&A (http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O105969/ball-for-musk-unknown/).  Like the original, it opens for a scented ball or bag of aromatic substances. Scented balls, made according to the recipe “To make King Edward the third his pomander against the plague,” are available. (We use red, dark green, dark blue, and light blue ribbon – if you have a preference, please include a note when you order.) We are glad to put our scented ball in the pomander; every pomander comes with a replacement pin for closing it again when you renew the scented item.

How do you wear it? Add it to your demicient chain, or your paternoster. Put it on a ribbon, cord, or braid and loop it around your purse hanger or key loop. Put a tassel on it – or an acorn. You can buy an 18 inch / 46 cm chain with an acorn dangle or a bell at https://www.billyandcharlie.com/product/demicent-chains/  if you need one.

The pomander is about 1 3/8″ or 35 mm in diameter (not counting the hinges or the loops). You cannot get a nicer one!
